74 ORGANIZACIJA ZNANJA 2007, LETN. 12, ZV. 2 SKLEP Eugen Garfield je nedvomno ena najpomembnejših in najzanimivejših osebnosti informacijske znanosti in in- formacijske industrije zadnjega pol stoletja. Ne glede na različne starejše poizkuse, je prav njegova iznajdba SCI sprožila dejanski začetek scientometrije. Na tej podlagi so se razvile številne nove teorije o razvoju znanosti in me- todologije za spremljanje rezultatov in vplivov znanosti. Izhodišče za SCI in scientometrijo je znanstveni članek in glede tega je mogoče predvideti zanimive premike. Znan- stveno komuniciranje se vse bolj seli na svetovni splet in vprašanje je, ali se bo ohranila dosedanja oblika znanstve- nega članka kot osnovne enote, saj že kar nekaj časa ob- stajajo podatkovne baze, ki zajemajo drugače oblikovane znanstvene informacije. Spreminja se ekosistem znanosti in vse pomembnejša postaja autopoiesis, o kateri je Tvrt- ko Šercar pisal že pred dvajsetimi leti. (Šercar, 1988) Bo s tem odpadlo citiranje kot oblika verifikacije znanstvenih spoznanj? “Svetovni um” še nikoli ni imel tako vernega približka, kot ga danes predstavlja svetovni splet. Povezave (angl. hyper- links ) nas peljejo iz enega v drugo spoznanje in obdaja nas mreža vesoljnega znanja. SCI je metabaza tega univerzuma in odgovornost njenih kreatorjev za njeno celovitost je iz ure v uro večja. Avtorji imajo neposreden dostop do spleta in mnoge “publikacije” ne gredo več skozi sita ocenjeval- cev in urednikov časopisov, ki pazijo na svojo znanstveno raven. So te objave zato “odpisane” za SCI? Odpirajo se doslej neznana vprašanja znanstvenega ko- municiranja ter publiciranja in prihaja čas novih Garfiel- dov, ki jih bodo morali rešiti.
